Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure by promising another Helper—the Holy Spirit, an intimate advocate who will live within believers, guide them into truth, and empower them to continue Jesus’ work. He explains that the Spirit is like living water, bringing real, life giving refreshment, conviction, teaching, and continual access to God in a way His physical presence could not. Jesus then gives them the gift of supernatural peace, assuring them that although they will face tribulation, the Spirit enables them to walk in life and peace because He has overcome the world.
